Blue Oysters are one of the easiest to grow, they require little care and only misting the blocks a couple of times per day to see great results. They also do great in winter and love the colder weather. Instructions can be downloaded using the link below.
Mushroom grow kits are directly pulled from our crop lines, these are the same blocks we use to produce the mushrooms and results in our pictures. Our farm blocks are much larger than typical grow at home kits, averaging 4.6-5kg per block resulting in much larger flushes and the potential for huge harvests.
Mushroom grow blocks will have 1-4 flushes (harvests) depending on outside factors such as grow conditions etc
Blue Oyster mushrooms are medium to large in size with caps averaging 5-25 centimetres in diameter and a very short or non-existent stem. Oyster mushrooms have a slightly chewy texture and are soft with a bittersweet aroma reminiscent of anise. When cooked, they have a mild and nutty, seafood-like flavour. The taste of these delicious mushrooms is truly unparalleled. The earthy, rich, and tensile texture is the perfect addition to your favourite dishes.
You can find blue oyster mushrooms in many Asian-style cuisines like donabe pots or other stews since the mushrooms hold their integrity well in soups. Also, these delicious mushrooms act as an excellent meat replacement because of their chewy texture and tasty size. They are absolutely irresistible by cooking them in just a simple sauté with brown butter.
Blue Oyster mushrooms can be used in a variety of dishes, especially soups and pastas. The stems can be chewy, and you may want to avoid using the stems in most dishes.
They can be cooked and added to soups, chowders, sauces, egg dishes, tarts, pasta, lasagne, and pizza. They can also be fried for tempura, fried into vegan calamari, used as a substitute in mock-oyster Rockefeller, or stuffed into dumplings.
